AAM holds 24th Annual Convention

The 24th Annual Convention of the American Agriculture Movement was held in Oklahoma City, January 22-25.

AAM members from 12 states gathered to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Tractorcade to Washington D.C. Gerald McCathern led the group assembled to reminisce about the stories of the escapades that happened during the trip to D.C. and while the tractors were in the Capital. There were many stories told about interesting. exciting, scary, and funny things that happened during this extraordinary trip. Everyone who participated has memories that will stay with them forever.

An Oklahoma legislator, Representative James Covey, spoke to the convention on behalf of General Wesley Clark, and staffers representing Governor Howard Dean and Congressman Dennis Kucinich also spoke.

Paul Moegge, former Oklahoma legislator and winner of the National Legislator of the Year Award was also a speaker.

David Senter of KSC&W in Washington updated the convention on legislation in D.C.

Larry Mitchell, CEO of the American Corn Growers Association spoke to the group about his organizations activities. (Larry’s remarks are included in this Newsletter.)

V.P. Communications: Ed Fashing

A plaque was presented to Homer Evan’s family at the Parity Luncheon in recognition of Homer’s loyal service to the Parity Fund.

A plaque was presented to Vera, Chris, and Andy Morris to celebrate all the time and effort V.B. and Vera have spent doing great things for AAM.

AAM will continue to participate in the National Association of Farm Broadcasters convention.

Executive board will make decision on whether to keep the National office in Washington D.C.
