Farm Aid 2005

FARM AID is pleased to announce FARM AID 2005, Farm Aid’s 20th Anniversary! The concert will be held Sunday, September 18, 2005 at the Tweeter Center in Tinley Park, Illinois. As always, Board members, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews will perform. Additional artists include Kenny Chesney, Wilco, Los Lonely Boys, Buddy Guy, Susan Teceschi, and others.

In addition to the concert, Farm Aid has planned a whole weeks worth of events.

Starting Monday, September 12 at the Chicago Cultural Center is a program called Fresh Films and Local Food: A Night at the Movies to Benefit Farm Aid. Family farms and good food come into focus with cutting edge films and tasting of food from local farms. The evening will feature The Real Dirt on Farmer John, an award willing documentary about farmer John Peterson and his successful fight to save his family farm by founding Angelic Organics near Rockford, Illinois.

Tuesday-Thursday, September 13-15 will be Farmers Markets and Farm Aid: Building Farm-Food Connections at various farmers markets in Chicago. Farm Aid brings chefs, local musicians and food activists together to promote the value of bring fresh, local food from family farmers.

Wednesday, September 14-Friday, September 16 Campaign to Chicago: 20 Years of Linking Family Farm, Good Food and You
Kicking off in Champaign, making stops at farms en route to Chicago. A two day farm and food caravan making stops at farms along the route to Chicago to bring fresh, family farm-raised food to serve at the Farm Aid concert. Events include farm tours, media events, and farm gatherings at farms en route.

Saturday September 17, 9:30 a.m. Tractor Parade (notice not Tractorcade)
Parade starts a James R. Thompson Center at 100 W Randolph Street and ends at County Fair at Garfield Conservatory.

Saturday September 17 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
County Fair at Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave, Chicago. A family event featuring music, food, family farmers, children’s events, a tractor display and a special forum on the good food movement at 2 p.m.

Farm Aid 2005 Presented by Silk Soymilk Sunday September 18, at Tweeter Center, Tinley Park.
Doors open at noon. Concert goers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support local food banks.
