From South Dakota
Way out west: Our weather is well above normal ............ like 20 degrees
........my tulips are coming up and the iris are about 3" high. Long range
...... it says it is going to turn cold in February. Our Winter Stock Show is
going on. It will last until February 5. It will be a bumper crowd with such
nice weather. I have received phone calls from North Dakota, Arizona, and Texas
since the convention asking about AAM. Maybe folks are getting concerned. We
have our fingers crossed about our crop. We raise winter wheat. It is coming out
of dormancy. We have no sub moisture ............... The deer are still grazing
the wheat fields so it is still alive.

From Michigan
The weather in Michigan is warm and rainy. We have had 40 plus days of above
normal temperatures. Warmest January in history. Have had lots of rain and
cloudy days. Don’t see the sun much. Rivers and ponds are over their banks like
they are in spring. Weatherman said that in the 10 warmest Januarys, 8 Februarys
were below normal and 6 times February and March were colder. So I guess we will
get winter sometime--probably in the spring when we don’t want it!

From Texas
It has rained more in the last 10 days than the previous 5 months combined. Two
rains of more than one inch have helped the drouth situation. Some of the wheat
and oats came back to life, although some had died. The hay situation is the
worst I have ever seen. Hay is being hauled in from Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma,
and Missouri. Pool water is very short and some people are hauling water for
cattle.
