National Delegates Meet
The National Delegates of the American Agriculture Movement met in Wichita, KS
on August 14. There was much discussion of the farm bill now before Congress.
There was much concern of Congress’ lack of response to the concerns of family
farmers and ranchers all across rural America. It seems the multi-nationals have
bought and paid for almost every member of Congress. They are no longer worried
about the voters as much as they are about the big money interest.
Wayne Allen reported on his trip to the National Family Farm Coalition meeting
in Madison, Wisconsin. He said they have a lot of people working to help farmers
put their finances in order to speed up liquidations. He said they do not
believe in PARITY nor are they willing to talk about price.
National Convention — The dates for the National Convention were approved
for January 24-26, 2003, at the Biltmore Hotel in Oklahoma City, OK. A Delegates
Meeting will be held on January 23, 2003 starting at 9:30 a.m. All members are
encouraged to mark their calendars and plan to be at this years 24th Annual
Convention.
We are currently inviting speakers for the Convention. The delegates are
planning a very informative and productive Convention. There are three meals
planned as in the past. Also we will have an auction again this year on Saturday
night. Be sure to start gathering up auction items. We always have a lot of fun
at the auction. A more detailed agenda will be in the next Newsletter.
Buddy Vance appointed John Willis as the Chairman of the Resolutions Committee.
Any resolutions should be sent to John or given to him at the delegates meeting
on Thursday, January 23. President Vance also appointed Arthur Chaney as
Chairman of the Nomination Committee. This year the Secretary and
Vice-presidents of Marketing, Membership and Political action are up for
election. If you have any nominations for these offices, please notify Arthur
Chaney.
