Farm Bureau Critic Loses Farm
By Ag Web.com Editors

Chris Peterson, one of the farmers who spoke out against the American Farm Bureau on a CBS “60 Minutes” expose, is losing his farm.     Because of too many years of bad prices fueled by bad farm policy, Peterson says he is getting squeezed out of farming.

“After 26 years of digging in the Earth, I won’t get to this spring,” Peterson told Defenders Rural Updates on Wednesday. “They’re taking my life away from me.”

In “Voice of the Farmer,” which aired on “60 Minutes” about a year ago, Mike Wallace interviewed farmers who said that the Farm Bureau leadership has used the farmer image to build an “empire worth billions while tens of thousands of (AFBF) farmers are sinking in Debt.”

Farm Bureau leaders said the expose was “mudslinging” by “extremist environmental groups.”

Although he’s getting out of farming, Peterson says he won’t be giving up.

“I plan on spending the rest of my life raising hell for everything they have done to the family farmer,” Peterson told Rural Updates.
